A. Dean Bowman Obituary

A. Dean Bowman, 69, passed away May 9, 2023. He was born May 15, 1953, in Ogden, UT, the son of Lilla D. Wiggins and Clayton W. Bowman.

He married Peggy Anderson in 1979, they were later divorced.

He attended Venice High School in Los Angeles, California then moved to Ogden, Utah and graduated from Ogden High School.

He joined the U.S. Navy right out of high school, served full time for 4 years. He was proud to serve his country and was a Vietnam Veteran, he then served in the Naval Reserves for 20 years, where he attended fire control classes.

Dean served as a Utah Highway Patrolman and received the Trooper of the Year Award in 1997. He retired after 20 years, he also retired from Hill Air Force Base after working in Various positions.

Dean received his Eagle Scout Award and was also licensed to scuba dive. He enjoyed many activities, fishing, car shows, family parties, he loved traveling, bird watching and cooking shows on his big screen.

He loved watching sports, the LA Rams, the Utah Jazz, and the L.A. Dodgers, in his younger days he played football and baseball.  He has been in contact for 50+ years with a pen pal from Sweden. Dean was always a jokester and fun to be around. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by his daughter Marina who was his “#1 best, best, best friend forever and ever”, his sister Helen Blackner, brother Ken (Janine) McKnight and many nephews, nieces, cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Lilla and Clayton, brother Earl (Connie) and brother-in-law David Blackner.

We want to sincerely thank the Doctors, nurses, Palliative Care, and Inspiration Hospice for all the love, care, and support during this time.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. Viewings will be held on Friday, May 19th from 6 to 8 pm and prior to the service from 1 to 1:45 pm. Interment at Ogden City Cemetery, 20th and Madison Ave. where Military Honors and Highway Patrol Honors will be accorded.

Dean’s service will be live-streamed and can be watched at the bottom of his obituary page at www.myers-mortuary.com. If unable to watch at the time of service, it will remain on the Myers Website indefinitely.
