Bette Sharon (Renninger) Mellinger

Our loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Bette Sharon Mellinger, 77, passed away unexpectedly on May 21, 2022, in Ogden, Utah. She was born September 25, 1944, to Henry and Minerva Renninger in Allentown, PA. Bette married Ronald C Mellinger on September 26, 1964. Bette and Ron traveled extensively during Ron's military career, living for a time in Germany, Florida and California, before settling in Roy, Utah. They had two sons, Earl and Brian and were also parents to many fur babies.  

She was a passionate redhead who was always offering a helping hand to others. She was one of the founding members of the Utah chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and was instrumental in granting wishes to many children. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi, an international women's organization.

As a military spouse, she was employed at several military bases through DECA and AAFES. While her husband was overseas, she also obtained her Associate Degree from Weber State University.

Bette was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ronald, sister Darlene, brothers Vernon and Earl, and grandson Xavier. She is survived by her sons Earl (Michelle), Brian (LeeAnn), grandchildren Alex, Isabelle, Evan and Christopher, and brother Lonnie Renninger. She is also survived by her family by choice Melody and Rick Neely.  

A viewing will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022, at Myers Mortuary, 5865 S 1900 W, Roy Utah from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 5560 South 2300 West, Roy, Utah at 11:00 am with a brief viewing that day from 10:00 am to 10:45 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either the Bette Mellinger Memorial Fund at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Roy Utah or Make-A-Wish Foundation of Utah.
