Bonnie Harris Obituary

Bonnie Aleta Baker was born June 23, 1942, to Alice Aleta Garrison and Merrill Evan Baker in Ogden. She was the third of four children and shared an incredible bond with each of her siblings.

She grew up in Ogden, graduating from Weber High School as class valedictorian. She then attended Weber State University and worked for the telephone company.

She met Robert (Bob) Kent Harris on a blind date and they were married two years later in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple on March 16, 1962. They recently celebrated 62 years together and proved to be an amazing example of honoring, appreciating, and loving your spouse.

Together they had four children whom they supported and encouraged, and, as they added in-laws, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren into their family, they continued with their amazing dedication and focus on family. Bonnie’s favorite thing to do was cheer on her family in all their passions in life. She was the number-one advocate for the whole Harris family, especially if anyone was doing a fundraiser (she truly missed her calling as a salesperson).

She was known to be an avid reader and often found herself as a “go-to” for church doctrine and pop culture. She specialized in having a song for every moment, as well as life advice which she happily supplied to all those who sought her out (and even those who didn’t ask). Bonnie was always a soft place to go to for her children, grandchildren, neighbors, and friends, as well as those with whom she interacted as a secretary at Sand Ridge Junior High, where she worked for 21 years before retiring. She was crafty, always having projects to keep her busy, and often shared her finished outcome with those around her.

Bonnie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many ward and stake positions. Most recently, she served as an institute teacher for 20 years.

Bonnie passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband, Bob, their children: Michelle (Paul) Clark, South Weber; Bob (Erin) Harris, Paradise; Scott (Shelly) Harris, Logan; and Chris (Stacie) Harris, South Weber; and brother Dale (Joan) Rond, West Jordan. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren who each felt her love and adoration. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Barbara, and brother, Keith. She was anticipating a great reunion.

A viewing will be held Sunday, March 24 from 6-8 pm at Myers Mortuary, 5865 S. 1900 W., Roy, UT, and Monday, March 25 from 9:30-10:30 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building at 4524 S. 2525 W., Roy, UT.  Funeral services will begin at 11: 00 a.m. Monday at the church with interment at the Roy Cemetery.
