Meet Dallin James Cunningham, born July 20, 2014! Dallin was born to Kathryn Mae Cunningham and Timothy David Cunningham in Salinas, CA while his daddy attended graduate school after serving in the United States Army. Dallin is the perfect, imperfect eight-year-old little boy. Sometimes teasing, sometimes antagonizing, but always in love for his three sisters, his mommy, and daddy. He loves playing board games and card games like Sushi Go!, Throw Throw Burrito, Uno, and many more. But he is always more excited to play when one of his sisters will be playing with him. He loves watching Mark Rober, Studio C, and Good Mythical Morning with his family, and Mr Beast when he controls the remote.
When he doesn’t have access to video games, he will pull out a complex puzzle to work on or draw funny pictures. He enjoys reading and just finished all the How to Train your Dragon books. He loves learning Portuguese and practicing with his daddy at home. He loves playing soccer, or futebol as it should really be called! He played soccer for one of the Tooele, UT area Elite FC soccer teams. He loves to turn around in the pews at church, waggling his eyebrows at anyone who catches his gaze. He is as flexible as his daddy was as a child, astounding people with his Gumby-like ambulations.
He is the most friendly and outgoing of our little Cunningham clan, easily making friends of all ages, wherever we have gone as a military, then student, and now regular working family. By his seventh birthday, Dallin had already lived in Monterey, CA, Fresno, CA, Fairfax, VA, Henderson, NV, Lehi, UT, and Stansbury Park, UT. On August 13, 2022, Dallin was baptized and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Our sweet eight-year-old son, Dallin James Cunningham passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 7, 2023, surrounded by family. This came after falling from a slide at school the previous day. We are heartbroken. We will miss his smiles, hugs, cuddles, jokes, playful spirit, and his amazing mind. We are grateful for the Plan of Salvation and the knowledge of Eternal families. We know that we will be together again. Thank you everyone who has kept us in your thoughts, prayers, and tears.
Dallin returned to his Heavenly Father’s arms ahead of his mother, Kathryn Mae (Horspool) Cunningham, father, Timothy David Cunningham, three sisters, Abigail Cunningham, Macaylie Cunningham, and Margaret Cunningham, grandparents James and Mary Kay Horspool, Diane Crawford, Lisa Cunningham, and Kris Palmer, great grandparents Darrel Palmer and Sue Smith, aunts and uncles Staci and Jesse Dickamore, Rachel Cunningham, Michelle and Kyle Barrett, Sarah Beth and Tony Hobson, Miriam Horspool, Rebekah and Thomas Rohrer, Esther and Jared Hulme, Hannah and Nicholas Nelson, Robert and Chris Horspool, William and April Horspool, and Catherine and Bret Bingham. Dallin also leaves behind many cousins and friends who love him and whom he loved very much.
Dallin was received with love in his Heavenly Father’s embrace by many who preceded him, including his grandfathers, Robert Max Cunningham, Gregary Therul Palmer, and James Crawford, as well as his aunt DeLynn Kathleen Cunningham, and his cousin Nathan Rohrer. He is also preceded by many beloved great grandparents.
We will celebrate Dallin’s life with the community on Friday, February 17, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 5:00 p.m. Dallin’s earthly body will be laid to rest February 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.
