ROBERT CLARK & DANA LEE GURR MURDOCK
The family of Robert and Dana Lee would like to announce that heavens gates opened wide to greet our loving parents within close succession of each other during the holidays.
Robert Clark Murdock – Died at the age of 79 on Monday, January 4, 2021. Robert (Bob) was born on December 30, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah. At a very young age his family moved to Compton, CA. While in Compton, his father passed when he was 11 years old. Shortly after his passing Bob moved to Long Beach and attended Southern California Military Academy for 2 years. He then moved back to Utah and was raised by relatives until he graduated from high school at Davis High. After graduating, he joined the Marines which ended with his honorable discharge due to a major injury two years later. Shortly after, he went on an LDS mission to the Virginia area and was proselyting the Native American population.
Dana Lee Gurr - Died at the age of 74 on Thursday, December 31, 2020. Dana Lee was born on January 24, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She faced many physical challenges throughout her life starting at birth with a diagnosis of hydrocephalus. Growing up she enjoyed learning the piano and swimming at the family’s private pool. Early on she showed a natural ability to instantly memorize things like phone numbers, addresses, and important dates. At the age of 12 she was sleigh riding at her home in Kaysville and went into the street and was ran over by a car. The accident left her unconscious for about 4 weeks and over time she was able to make a full recovery. She then graduated high school at Davis High. Shortly after high school she worked at HAFB for about two years.
Bob & Dana Lee were introduced by Bob’s beloved Aunt Frances in the summer of 1967 and soon after on June 19, 1968 they were married in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. In 1970 they started a family in their home in Clearfield and over the next several years it expanded to four children (Steve, James, Sheldon, & Candis). Soon after the last child was born, the family moved to Layton. The family enjoyed camping trips, family reunions (both sides of their respective families), and many other activities. It was apparent to anyone that knew them that they were inseparable as a couple and expressed so much unconditional love within their family. Even though they had their challenges, they successfully raised their four children. They were also very involved with the grandchildren who soon followed. The most significant message that they passed to their family through their example is “Unconditional Love.” Unfortunately, two years ago they lost their youngest son, Sheldon Gurr Murdock, due to a heart condition when he was 43 years old. The remaining three siblings are healthy and doing well with the exception of the grief and heartbreak over the loss of both of their parents and their brother.
Bob & Dana Lee’s children would like to express how much they are going to miss both of you dearly and your legacy is continuing through your children and their respective families. Your children cannot express the significant values learned from you as parents that have helped shape their lives and their respective families.
A special thanks to Chancellor Gardens and all the caregivers in or out of the facility for the loving care that they have provided over the last 6 years of our parents lives. Also, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to their Hospice Nurses, Emily and Shasta who went above and beyond.
