Obituary

Dr. David Paul Widauf (Ret. Col.)
Layton, UT – David Paul Widauf, passed away May 18, 2010 in Seattle, WA. He was born to Richard and Dorthy Bissel Busanich on September 3, 1947 in Ketchikan, Alaska. He was subsequently adopted and raised by Joseph and Dorthy Widauf.
David was raised in California and graduated from CalPoly, he received his Masters from Pepperdine and PHD from East Texas State University.
He was married to Joy Allred for 35 years, they were later divorced.
He served for many years on active duty in the US Air Force as a rated officer. He subsequently joined the Air Force Reserve as an Industrial Engineer and later retired as a Colonel in 2003.
He was a associate professor and Division Head of Aviation Programs at USU from 1986-2004. He was an adjunct professor at WSU of advance composite materials. He was co-author for several patents. He has received many professional honors and was a member of many professional societies.
David was the Deputy Director of Advanced Technology Programs Office at HAFB. He has worked in Civil Service since his retirement from USU in 2005.
He was a business partner at Eclipse Composites Engineering, LLC.
He is survived by his wife, Galina, for 4 years; sons, Cary Widauf, Sean (Erika) Widauf, stepson, Stanislav, mother, Dottie Widauf, four grandchildren; David, Elizabeth, Logan, Ian.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 250 North Fairfield Road, Layton, UT. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 to 10:45 prior to services.
Interment will be at Utah Veteran Memorial Park, Bluffdale, UT. Military Honors will be accorded.
