Dolores Victoria Gaitan age 87, passed away surrounded by family March 19, 2021 due to ALS. She was born February 7, 1934 in Bakersfield, California to Henry and Rose Padilla. Dolores was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as a Nana.
Until her health condition made it impossible, Dolores hands were constantly busy from cooking, crocheting and sewing. Her quilts were sent to friends, family, church missions, and hospitals or anyone she knew that needed a little extra love and warmth.
Dolores is survived by her six children and their spouses; sixteen grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren; along with her six brothers and sisters; and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Dolores was preceded in death by her mother and father; brother, Dennis; daughter in law, Teri Ann; and infant son, Anthony.
A special thank you to her granddaughters, Cassie and Dani for using their medical training along with the gift of compassion and love to care for Mom/Nana during her last days.
Dolores wished to be cremated. A private viewing was held March 22, 2021. "Burn what is left of me, and scatter the ashes to the winds to help the flowers grow. If you must bury something, let it be my faults, my weaknesses and all prejudice against my fellow man. If, by chance, you wish to remember me, do it with a kind deed or word to someone who needs you. If you do all that I asked, I will live forever."
