Donna Gacioch Obituary

Donna Marie Gacioch, 82, of West Haven, Utah, died April 17, 2024, in the Franciscan Hospice House in Tacoma, Washington.

She was born on November 20, 1941, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Arthur & Aurelia Reich.

She married David J. Gacioch on April 28, 1962 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Richland, Washington and together, they had five sons, David, Michael, Stephen, Timothy and Peter.

Donna’s husband David, had a career in the Air Force and as such, they moved around quite a bit, so much so that they had each child born in a different State when they made their home in Clearfield, Utah.  Donna’s true passion was in being a mother, and taking care of her family and children and church.  Donna made every birthday special, baking her son’s favorite treat.  She loved to spend holidays with her family and always made the holidays a special time for everyone.  Donna was a fantastic cook, she loved to bake, she made the best sugar cookies in the world at Christmas time and the family would gather to frost them, and enjoy time (and cookies) together.
Donna was a kind, loving, humble and beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  She was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Donna was a committed Catholic her entire life, even receiving her baptism on Pearl Harbor Day. When she met her husband David, her strength in Jesus grew stronger.  Donna was very involved in the Catholic church, going many times a week with her husband to prayer groups, masses and events at the church.  Donna and David loved to attend Mass and would sing loudly and joyfully with their beautiful voices. Donna had many lifelong friends in the Catholic church. Donna would become a Eucharistic Minister and bake the bread (Body of Christ) for the church on a weekly basis.  She also ironed all the linens and maintained the flowers for Saint Rose of Lima in Layton for many years.  Donna worked at Saint Joseph’s for ten years in the rectory as a secretary.

Donna is survived by four sons David, Michael, Stephen (Loralee), Timothy (Dave), four grandchildren Stephen (Bailee), Sean, Ashlee (Cody), Kylie (Derrick), and five great grandchildren, Avery, Parker, Luke, Carson and Lynsie.  Donna is also survived by three siblings, Don, Joan and Yvonne.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband David and her youngest son, Peter.
