Doris Leone McFarland McComb
October 21, 1929 - February 4, 2019

Our loving mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, and friend, Doris McComb, of Clinton, passed away in her home on February 4, 2019. She is joyfully united with her husband Ben, and daughter Sue, after sad farewells last year. Doris was born in Salt Lake City, October 21, 1929, to Josephine and Donald McFarland. She grew up in Ogden, attending Ogden High. She fell in love with a handsome young man, Ben McComb, also of Ogden. They were married January 26, 1951. Ben was sent overseas to postwar Germany. At the young age of 21, Doris flew on a long military flight with their infant daughter, to join him. While in Germany, they visited most countries in Western Europe. Their second daughter was born in Stuttgart. They added four more children while living in Provo and Orem, before settling in Clinton in 1967. lt was a full time job as a mother of six kids, always busy sewing, baking, making lunches, laundry, and canning. There was always a hot meal in the evening. Her children were her priority, sacrificing so they could participate in dance lessons, scouting, 4-H, skiing and music. After her kids were old enough for school, Doris worked seasonal at IRS as a tax examiner.
Doris and Ben enjoyed traveling, visiting 48 states and many countries around the world, always returning home to the good old USA. Doris loved reading, sewing, camping, fishing, and spending time with friends and family.
She was a faithful member of the LDS faith and appreciated the support of her ward members. For over thirty years she was active in the Mt. Ogden/Ben Lomond chapters of ABWA, raising funds for young women college scholarships. She was also active in Cosmopolitan club. She made many dear friends along the way.
Of all her accomplishments, her most treasured was her 67 years of marriage to Ben and the love of her family. Mom loved all her grandkids and she was always there for listening, providing love, and advice.
Doris is survived by her children: Pat Russell (Mick), Debra Bitton (Doug), Don McComb, Scott McComb (Sally), and Lizabeth Hart (John); son-in-law, Kim Smith; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert McFarland; sister-in-law’s, Betty Phillips (John) and Carol Thomas.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ben; daughter, Susan; her brothers, Parley, Blair and Rex McFarland; brother-in-law, Jack Thomas and sister-in-law, Connie McFarland.
