Duane Christensen Obituary

Duane Loyd Christensen passed from this life on April 27, 2021 by reasons primarily due to age. He lived for 88 years, 4 months and 25 days.

Duane was born on Dec 2, 1932 in Scotia, NB. The family moved to the oil field town of Lance Creek, WY, where he grew up. Duane was an athlete and was on school baseball, football and basketball teams. He excelled in softball and was considered a top- notch fast pitch pitcher long after he graduated from high school. He was also very proud of his skill for training horses which he did prior to serving in the army during the Korean war.

He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wyoming in 1960 in education and industrial arts. He taught high school math for eight years in LaGrange and Wheatland Wyoming. He made a career change to become a construction superintendent for Kansas Nebraska Natural Gas. He worked with this company until his retirement in 1994.

Duane and Susan moved to Ogden, UT to be close to family. He completely enjoyed the fishing and camping outings, especially when large family groupings were able to attend. Duane was politically conservative and had a strong commitment to providing for his family and not relying on government support programs.

He was always quick with humor and loved playing card games. He was a highly competitive person and would work hard to be the best at things he pursued. His work ethic was an inspiration and example to his children.

Duane died just three days after his 67th wedding anniversary. He was truly appreciative of the care and support from his wife in the last year when times of Covid were so difficult.

Duane is survived by his wife Susan Jewett, four sons, Robert J. (Helene Gass), William S. (Carri Stanley), Michael D. (Deanna Muir), David F. (Lori O’Kief). Nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Duane, by his own words, said that he lived a long and satisfying life and was grateful for all life had to offer.
