Obituary

Edythe Hendricks Frost Royster

Our dear Edythe slipped into heaven December 27, 2002 from her daughter’s home in Paradise, California where she has made her home for the past six years.

She was born in Richmond, Utah on March 14, 1912 to Joseph Earl Hendricks and Sarah Reitta Sparrow. A sister, Helen, and a brother, Joseph Earl Jr., went on ahead, but her youngest sister, Dorothy Ririe, still resides in Ogden.

In 1935 she married Chauncy Collins Frost. They had one child before he passed away in November of 1946.

Edythe was a dedicated single mother working in Ogden for Wrights and then JC Penney Company to provide a nice life for herself and her daughter until marring Archie Royster in February of 1952. The new little family moved into a home on 27th street in Ogden where Archie and Edythe remained for the next 43 years. Archie died in December of 1996 after which Edythe moved to California.

Their home was always open to friends, neighbors and relatives where Edythe would prepare wonderful meals, Archie would tell grand stories and they would both spoil grandchildren and great grandchildren to distraction. In addition to her cooking and hostess skills, she created several types of dolls, crocheted afghans and hand tied quilts to the delight and benefit of her family and friends.

Edythe will be greatly missed by her sister, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and especially by her daughter, Renée O’Dair; grandchildren, Steve Mott (Regan), David Mott (Melanie), Mary King (Brian) and Janie Cragun. Twelve great grandchildren were privileged to know their Grandma Royster.
