Elaine Hansen Mears-Stapinski, 92 of Palm Springs, Calif. passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 02, 2011 due to natural causes. Born April 20, 1919 in Trenton, Utah. Elaine was the seventh of eight children of Lorin and Bessie (Thompson) Hansen. Elaine and her family moved from Utah to California in 1929.

Elaine married Ralph Ashley Mears, the son of Willis and Grace Mears on October 31, 1933, in Santa Ana, California. They were married for 56 wonderful years.

Throughout her life she was a proud member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many leadership positions and gave countless hours of compassionate service.

She married Richard Stapinski August of 1995 in Palm Springs where they lived for 16 years.

Survivors include husband Richard Stapinski, son Ralph Marvin (Janet) of Visalia, Calif.; grandchildren Scott (Sharon) Mears, Tracy (Michael) Moniz , Marla (Leonard) Johnson, & Randall Mears, Sandra (Bart) Fernelius, Kimberly Mears, Jeffery Mears, 12 Great-grandchildren and 4 Great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband Ralph, son Ronald and Great-granddaughter Amanda Shoemaker.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 8, 2011 at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah.

Interment will be in the Plain City Cemetery in Plain City, Utah

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Perpetual Temple Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Elaine will most be remembered by her big smile, sweet nature and love of dancing.
