Elsie Timmins Obituary

Elsie Nielson Timmins passed away unexpectedly on January 30, 2023 at the age of 76. Elsie was born on August 14, 1946 to Corwin Lawrence Nielson and Nora Eliza Olson in the Dee Memorial Hospital in Ogden, Utah.

Elsie spent her childhood in Sunset, Utah. Where she loved cowboy boots and playing Cowboys and Indians. She also loved to ride her horse.

She attended Weber State College for three years and then joined the army for three years during the Vietnam war at Fort Sam in Houston, Texas. She was honorably discharged on November 15, 1968.

Elsie married the love of her life, Gordon Louis Timmins on December 15, 1972 in the Ogden, Utah LDS Temple. They then adopted Matthew in 1978 and Kelly Ann in 1982.

She was a fantastic Wife, Mom, Mother in-law, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend. She loved music and one of her favorite callings was being the Music leader in primary. She served in many positions faithfully in The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. She always went the extra mile in everything she did.

Elsie was very creative and could do illustrations for anything. She loved scrapbooking, and has numerous scrapbooks of her grandchildren and family.

She was spontaneous, fun-loving, and could easily make everyone laugh. She was a joy to be around and told great and wonderful stories of her life. She was a therapist and a listener. You could talk to her about anything, and she was so understanding and loving.

Elise was very humble, and would do anything for anyone. She truly made a difference in the lives of all that knew and loved her.

She was a really good cook and her handmade rolls and cinnamon rolls were the best.

Many years were spent by her doing genealogy. She had boxes of information that she had gathered of stories, journals and pictures. This seemed to be one of her life‘s most important callings.

She was the most caring person you would ever meet. She was kind hearted with everyone around her, except while she was driving.

If you had the pleasure of eating one of her home-cooked meals she always made sure you had way too much dessert afterwards.

She was very stubborn in her values and very independent. Everyone loved her laugh. And, she could cheer anyone up.

Her home was very important to her while always keeping it clean and making sure it was warm and inviting to all those who visited.

She wrote many children’s stories with her sister, Julie. She loved the children in her life. Many nieces, nephews and neighbor children have wonderful memories of adventures with her, and to some of them she was their second mother.

Elsie was Christ like and always served others without ever putting herself first, she was generous to a fault. She had a very strong testimony of The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. She loved the Scriptures and read and used them often.

She is survived by her son, Matthew and his wife Nesha. Grandchildren Sabra Jeanne, Nora Marci, Corbin Matthew, Striker Louis, Sunshine Rose and Nephi Raphe. Her sisters Ilene Gilmore, Julie Heiner and brothers Douglas Nielson, Steven Nielson and LaVelle Nielson.

Her children, grandchildren and daughter in-law Nesha were her life and joy. Elsie was so happy when Nesha called her mom.

Elsie was a helper and lover of life, and a very good woman. We are honored to call her our own. She was the definition of a true saint. We know now how much she will be able to help all those she loves much more where she is, than if she was still here.

She loved, and was loved.

Thank you to all the wonderful friends and family that have served and helped Elsie since the passing of her husband less than 3 months ago. You are all loved.
