A giant of a man left a huge hole in our hearts as he passed away after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinson's Disease at the age of 78. Fred was born to loving parents, a son of Fred Henry and Clea Johnson Haglund. He spent his youth in Logan, Utah, graduating from Logan High School. He attended Weber State University.

After service in the United States Army, he settled in Pleasant View, Utah where he resided until his death.

He spent his career as a firefighter at the Defense Depot Ogden, retiring as Assistant Fire Chief. He also volunteered at the North View Fire Department for over twenty years. After retirement, he worked full and part-time positions for Pleasant View City, retiring from there after twenty plus years of service. He enjoyed being a partner in Creative Catering, specializing in Dutch oven cooking for fifteen years.

He married Claron Buxton, July 1, 1960, in the Logan, Utah LDS temple.

He served a mission with his wife to the California Carlsbad Mission and also completed a service mission with her to the LDS Warm Springs area in Moapa, Nevada. Fred and Claron also served a service mission to the LDS Conference Center on Temple Square. Fred served in many church callings, including the Elder's Quorum Presidency, Scoutmaster, High Priest Presidency, Executive Secretary for the Young Single Adult Ward, and as Activities Committee Chairman for ten years. Fred enjoyed serving others and could regularly be found reaching out to help someone in need.

Fred is survived by his wife, Claron and three daughters: Shaun (Robert) Nielsen, Wendee (Jonathan) Hall, Kristin Haglund, his sister, Judith Roberts, eight grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Our hearts are broken knowing that it will be a while before we can see him again and can enjoy his great smile and big personality.

A special thanks to Canyon-Peak Hospice for their care and compassion for Fred, especially Annette Wood, RN and Brian Webster.
