LAYTON – Freda Albert Hoffman Kearl ws born on March 19, 1919, in Randolph, Utah. She was the youngest daughter of William Henry Hoffman and Minerva Stewart Hoffman.

She was reunited with her loved ones who passed on before her on January 30, 2008, in Layton, Utah.

Freda married David Randall Kearl for time and all eternity on March 6, 1940, in the Salt Lake City, Utah LDS Temple.

The family affectionately referred to Freda as “GG” (Great Grandma). All of her life was centered around, and dedicated to her family. She was strong in her faith, and was a living example to all who knew her. She was fun loving, even after suffering trials and tribulations that would test anyone’s faith. She was quick with her humor, great on a sewing machine, very good with horses, and even good at riding motorcycles. Dad and Mom enjoyed many rides on their motorcycles in and around the Bear Lake Valley. Mother loved to go camping with the family and enjoyed many wonderful trips with them. She loved playing her organ, and was very good at “playing by ear”.

She was a member of the Ogden LDS 29th Ward for many, many years. She served there in many callings including: Primary President, Relief Society President, Den Mother, Primary teacher, Relief Society teacher, Sunday School Secretary, Guide Patrol leader and Relief Society chorister. She held Stake callings as Stake Primary President in two different Stakes (Utah and Nevada). Mom and Dad lived most of their married lives in Ogden and for several years lived in Sparks, Nevada. Most recently she lived with her daughter Debbie, in Layton, Utah, where she was a member of the Tri Oaks Ward. She was currently serving there in the Relief Society, making blankets for newborn babies. She was also active in the Lynn Camp chapter of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

She attended school one year in the Little Red School House, on the Ranch at Sage Creek, and then in Randolph, Utah. She attended Utah State University, transferring to Excelsior Beauty College in Salt Lake City, Utah. She earned her Beauticians License, practicing this for 50 years. At one time, she operated her own Beauty Parlor in Randolph, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her Husband David Randall Kearl; Son Michael Randall Kearl and Daughter Kristene Kearl (Reese). Also by her parents William Henry Hoffman, Minerva Stewart Hoffman and Step-mother Marie Andreason Hoffman. Brothers Ivan Hoffman, Wesley Hoffman and Kenneth L. Hoffman; Sister Leta Hoffman (Barnes).

She is survived by her Son Randy Scott Kearl (Judy) of Battle Ground, WA; daughter Debra Anderson (Roger) of Layton, Utah; Sister Ila Groll of Randolph, Utah; 15 Grandchildren; 37 Great-grandchildren.

The family would like to convey sincere heart felt thanks to the wonderful people at the Farmington, and Bonneville Dialysis Centers for their loving care of Mother. Also to the Nurses at manor Care Nursing Home. And, the Wonderful Nurses at Legacy Hospice, for all of their help. We are also very grateful for the kind, concerned care given to Mother by Dr. Stephen Bruce and Dr. Harry Senejian.
