Gary Young Obituary

Gary Johnson Young passed away on Monday, January 2 in the early hours after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer at 68 years old.

Gary was born in Ogden, UT to Vern Evan Young and Anna Myrle Johnson. He was the 3rd of 6 children. He attended Clearfield High School and obtained his diploma in 1972.

He had many hobbies while growing up including hunting, fishing, horseback riding, which he continued being passionate about into adulthood as well as excelling with professional photography. His most memorable hobby was woodworking with his dad. Gary often spoke about the amazing leather work and craftsmanship of his late dad. Gary’s professional career involved working with photography in some form up to his passing.

Gary served a mission in Ireland 1973-1975 which he always remembered fondly. Gary was dedicated to his family and took his family responsibilities very seriously.

Gary married Pattie Jo Curtis on February 11, 1977. They had three children Bradley, Casey, and Sam. They later divorced but stayed in close contact for family matters.

Gary was preceded in death by Vern Young and Anna Myrle.

He is survived by his sons Brad (Jenny), Casey (Angie), and Sam (Kendra). He is survived by his brothers, Ron (Adele), Loren, and “Little Norm” Norman (Julie); his sisters Diane (“Big Norm” Norman) and Linda; and his grandchildren Oriah, Emmry, Tristan, Wesson, Jerney, Catelynn, and Hudson.
