Geoffrey Montague Obituary

Geoffrey Earl Montague, 40, passed away unexpectedly at his home in North Ogden, UT on April 27, 2022. Geoff was born in Provo, UT on April 24, 1982, he was the third child of John and Rossalynn Montague.

Geoff moved around a lot as a child from Provo to Ogden, then to Cleveland and Arizona. He made it back to Ogden Utah, where he was able to attend Ogden High School, play football and basketball, then graduate in 2000.

After high school Geoff served an LDS mission in McAllen, Texas. There he learned to speak Spanish and to love Mexican food.

In 2005 he met Heidi Howell. She was the “P.E. girl” and he was “the boy in the red car”. Heidi gave Geoff her phone number first and he never stopped calling. She was the love of his life. They were sealed for time and eternity on December 15, 2005 in the Logan Temple. Together they had four beautiful children, Houston (13), Abigail (11), Brigham (9), and Gabriel (5). They were his world, and he was theirs.

Geoff graduated from Weber State University with a Bachelors and then a Masters in Business Administration. He was able to get a job working in the Ogden Temple, the Logan Temple, and the Bountiful Temple before getting a job at the Joseph Smith Building and overseeing many buildings in Temple Square. This job allowed his wife to quit her job as a teacher and stay home with their children. Geoff got a new job in 2020 working for Harris. This allowed him to work from home and spend even more time with his family. Geoff was an amazing dad. He taught his kids everything, especially how to be independent and confident.

Geoff will be remembered for many things. He was the most loving, goofy, hilariously inappropriate brother, son, uncle, and friend. He loved good food, football, basketball, baseball, and bragging about his kids. Geoff spent much of his time serving others and his church. He had many callings in the LDS church most recently with the Young Mens group. If you knew Geoff, you hugged Geoff.

Geoff was survived by his wife Heidi Howell; children Houston, Abigail, Brigham, and Gabriel; parents John and Rossalynn Montague; parents in law Roger and Annette Howell; siblings R.W. (Vanessa) Montague, Kazia (Dan) Howell, Kali Montague, and Bryan (Hannah) Montague; siblings in law Ben (Bradi) Howell, Trevor (Lisa), and Nick (Brooke) Howell; and 18 nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents Wallace and Maxine Montague and Robert and Alice Hill; and niece Kourtney Howell.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 5, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at North Ogden 9th Ward, 205 E. Elberta Dr. No. Ogden, UT.  Viewings will be Wednesday, May 4, 2022, 6-8 p.m. and prior to services 9:30–10:30 a.m. at the church.
