OGDEN –George Robert (Bob) Scott, 88, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008 after a brave battle with cancer.

He was born on November 4, 1919 in Salt Lake City, Utah to George Robert Scott and Jennie Shupp. He also had a loving step-father, Joseph Henry Christensen. Bob was the fourth of eight boys born to this family.

After graduating from West Jr. High and South High School he started working for the railroad. He worked there until he retired in 1979 as General Foreman of the Denver & Rio Grande office in Ogden.

On January 26, 1940 he was married to his sweetheart, Berdine Jones in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were blessed with three daughters, Judy, Claudia and Wendy. He really enjoyed being the only man in the house.

On June 16, 1944 Bob entered active service in the Army. After the war he enlisted in the Army Reserves. He achieved the rank of Master Sergeant and in 1963 was named “Reserve Man of the Year” in Utah. He retired from the army on November 4, 1979 as Sergeant Major.

During these years Bob got interested in Golf and Bowling. With his wife at his side, they won many tournaments and trophies. It is here that many of their life long friendships were made.

Bob is survived by his wife, Berdine, as well as his three daughters, Judy (Robert) Hart of Washington Terrace; Claudia (Vell) Runolfson of Taylorsville; Wendy (Brent) Douglas of Pleasant View; 14 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Arden Scott and Merlin Scott of Ivins, Utah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, five brothers and one great granddaughter.

We express our deepest thanks to the caregivers at Alpine Hospice for the loving care they gave to our father.

We will miss you Dad and look forward to the time when we will be united once more.
