Gerald Holston of Ogden, UT, died January 05, 2022, at McKay Dee Hospital with his family by his side. He was the son of James and Marie C. Drake Holston.
One of Jerry’s most significant accomplishments was being a father to his baby girl Shanika who was brought into this world by the lovely Debbie Guzman. He was my superhero even as an adult, I still see him that way. He was always there not only for me but for others and taught them to enjoy every moment life has to offer. The love he had was enough for an entire community, a community that embraced him and his passion for wellness, bodybuilding, and humor. As an individual he knew what self-confidence could do to a person, a kid, and an entire community. Our community has suffered a significant loss yet gained a comedic angel. Jerry was a self-taught guitar player and loved basketball; especially the Utah Jazz and could talk about the games for ever.
Jerry had a lot of love for his family, especially his daughter Shanika, his grandson Demetrius, Kristy, as well as his siblings and extended family.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marie Holston, his brothers Arthur Lee and Carvin Holston, and many family members to greet him on his way to glory.
He is survived by his loyal and beloved daughter Shanika Hernandez, grandson Demetrius Hernandez, brothers Ronald, Kenneth, Richard, and Gregory Holston, sister Jackie Norsingle, cousins Penny (Ray) Younger, sister-in-law Louise Brenda Holston, as well as a host of loving family and friends.
To his family, he will be remembered as a person who loved life, family, laughter, kindness, and his great spirit will forever be missed but will forever be in our hearts.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah.
