Harrison Neff Matthews

OGDEN -- Harrison Neff Matthews passed away peacefully on June 17, 2006 at the Peachtree Assisted Living facility.

Neff was born July 19, 1919 in Declo, Idaho; a son of Hector and Clarice Little Matthews. He married Margaret Avondet on January 29, 1941 in Ogden, Utah. She passed away February 4, 1993.

He graduated from Ogden High School and attended Weber State College. He was a conductor for the Southern Pacific Railroad retiring after many years of service. He proudly served his country for the army in World War II.

Neff grew up in Idaho on the ranch finding his passion in life—his horses. He was known for his abilities to breed and train the horses. Neff was also a great carpenter; building cabinets and furniture for many of his friends and family. One thing we will always remember Neff is his signature cowboy hat and boots. You wouldn’t find him without them. He loved the outdoors, going camping, hunting and cooking his famous Dutch oven dinners.

He is a member of the LDS church. We will miss and love him very much.

He is survived by his two daughters, Margo (Ron) Bluemel and Carolyn (Tom) Felter, both of Hooper; a sister, Ruth Ahlberg of Sparks, NV; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his beautiful wife, and one brother.

We would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to the wonderful CNA nurses and those associated at Peachtree; also to Applegate Hospice for their love and compassion to Neff and his family, and a special thanks to Dr. Qader.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 22, at 11 a.m. at Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 E. Combe Rd. in South Ogden. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Roy, 5865 South 1900 West. Interment, Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch.
