Irma Morgan Obituary

Irma Felice Morgan, age 84, returned to her Heavenly Father on January 9th, 2022 surrounded by family at Harrison Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Ogden, Utah. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on February 26, 1937 to Harvey Henry and Lucile Regelman and raised as an only child, Irma is preceded in death by her parents and her eternal companion Richard W. Morgan, her half brothers Robert Regelman and Richard Regelman, as well as her half-sister Virginia Regelman Fair.  A loving daughter, devoted wife, dedicated mother, fun-loving grandmother, and proud great-grandmother, she is survived by her loving husband Loren O. Kay, and her seven children including Annette M. (Dave) McFarland of Kennesaw, GA,  Deborah M.  (Justin) Rushin of Oakmont, PA, Michael R.  (Elizabeth) Morgan of Lehi, UT, Mark A. (Jean) Morgan of Ogden, UT, Brian E. (Michelle) Morgan of Greenville, SC, David B. (Melanie) Morgan of Clinton, UT, and Matthew W.  (Angelee) Morgan of Fort Worth, TX; 39 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren; as well as many of Loren’s family. Richard and Irma Morgan were married on January 18, 1958 and were later sealed in the Washington DC Temple on July 1, 1975. Years after Richard’s passing, she met and was married for time to Loren O. Kay on June 24, 2011 in the Bountiful Temple.

Irma devoted much of her life to becoming a consummate homemaker, baking countless pies, cakes, breads, cookies, sewing household items, clothing, even Barbie doll clothes for her daughters, crocheting many afghans, canning hundreds of jars of produce annually, plus waking in the early hours so she could clean and enjoy a tidy home.  Yet, she also demonstrated a balance between work and play.  She loved puzzles, card games, board games, and would challenge her children through weekend Monopoly marathons in between meals, chores, and church. In addition, Irma was active in school organizations, Girl Scouts and supporting her children in their various extracurricular activities.  Later in life, Irma rekindled her passion of nursing while employed as an aide at Fox Nursing Home in Chester, WV.

Irma was a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was actively involved in church service serving in Primary, Relief Society, Girls Camp, and Seminary for many years, including serving in the Single Adults and with Loren as Church Service Missionaries. She had a very strong sense of family and taught her children and grandchildren a love of music, education, the gospel of Jesus Christ, genealogy (taking special care to archive detailed family photos), and temple attendance. An accomplished soloist, pianist, and organist, Irma shared her talents during many family gatherings providing music around the piano or organ, and she was frequently requested to sing at various functions.  Irma loved adventure, traveling, camping, birdwatching (cardinals), hiking, enjoying theme parks, and added on cruising in her later years.  Irma was blessed in her last decade of life to have the devoted and caring companionship of her husband, Loren Kay.  Loren’s family greatly expanded her family and resulted in many new loving relationships.  Irma was looking forward to the day she would be reunited with her eternal companion and remarked during her last days that Richard was coming to get her.
