Ivan Leroy Chavez, 69, passed away July 15, 2021 in Ogden, Utah. Leroy was born May 29, 1952 in Riverton, Wyoming the son of Ruth Ann Vialpando and Juan Chavez. He attended Ogden City schools. He was a baptized Catholic.
Leroy married Vicky Lee Speer on August 11, 1973 in Ogden, Utah. He loved his wife and children. He had a special relationship with his grandsons Josh and Xavier and loved them with all his heart. He also had a special relationship with his God-Daughter Felicia and God-Son Joel and his niece Ruth.
Leroy loved fishing, camping and sports, he enjoyed playing basketball with his grandsons. He liked the Dallas Cowboys, BYU, Notre Dame and the Boston Celtics. He enjoyed watching western movies and horror movies, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, his pumpkin seeds and Natural Light Beer. He loved playing his guitar and was an amazing artist.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Johnny, two sisters Valorie and Louise and his first-born son Ivan Leroy Chavez Jr.
Leroy is survived by Vicky his wife of 47 years; his daughter Tricia Michele Chavez; sons Leroy Chavez and David Chavez; God-Daughter Felicia Speer; God-Son Joel Jamal Garcia; sister Dee Ann Chavez Speer; brothers Micheal Sanchez and Joseph “Shorty” Chavez, brother-in-law Rick Speer, sister-in-law Patricia Speer Quintana, his two grandsons Joshua Chavez and Xavier Garcia, and nieces Trina and Alexis, and nephews Ezekiel and Kevin
Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Vicky Chavez.
Leroy’s niece and nephews in Maui, Hawaii will be doing a special dedication, laying the native Hawaiian flower in the ocean in memory of their Uncle Leroy.
“And between now and then, ‘til I see you again, I’ll be loving you, love me.”
