Jacoba Maria Wijnen-Riems (Eeckhout), 96, passed away peacefully in Ogden, UT, on December 2, 2022. Originally born in Bandung, Indonesia on the island of Java, she immigrated with her family to the Netherlands in 1958. They arrived in the United States on May 1961 where they made their home in Medford, MA until 2021.
She worked nights at Schrafft’s Candy, in Charlestown, MA when she first arrived in the United States. She then moved on to the B & M Railroad, North Station from which she retired.
She is survived by her son, Jacobus (Joop) (JR) Wijnen-Riems and his wife Elena from Ogden, UT; her son, Geoffrey (Dutch) Wijnen-Riems and his wife Kathie from Beaver Falls, PA and Ellington, FL; her daughter, Ragnhild (Reggy) Roycroft and her husband Paul from Newburyport, MA; her son, Frederick (Ron) Wijnen-Riems and his wife Linda from Methuen, MA.
Grandchildren, Maurice, Maureen, Melissa, Jeffrey, Brad, Nate, Noel, Kate-Marie, Nicole, Ashley and 19 great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her loving husband of over 61 years of marriage, Fritz Wijnen-Riems who passed away in March of 2010.
She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting, painting, cooking and being with her family and grandchildren.
We will miss and love Mam for her vibrance, knowledge about life, and timeless advice.
It’s not goodbye, it’s until we meet again.
