James Russell Cook passed away October 16, 2021, in Ogden, Utah, following a tragic car accident while traveling with his sister, JoAnne, who also died.
James was born to Joseph Cook and Rose Berwald on August 8, 1949, in Compton, California. After graduating from Dominguez High School, James served in the US Navy during the Viet Nam war. Using the skills learned there and at San Jose State University, he worked as an HVAC and facilities maintenance tech for defense contractors in the US, Japan, and Germany.
Upon retirement, he joined the R.O.C.K. Club in West Jordan, Utah, and started collecting and working on local minerals. He also enjoyed gardening, cooking, camping, and fishing. He most enjoyed living close to his daughters and being able to do things with the family.
James is survived by his wife, Janet; daughters, Danielle and Marie Cook; brother, Richard (and Rita) Cook; and sister-in-law, Chanda Cook. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, JoAnne and Joseph.
Interment will be Monday, January 10, 2022, 10:00 am, in the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City, Nevada.
