JAMES FRED MEADOWS

SUNSET/SAN DIEGO -- James Fred Meadows passed away May 23, 2006 in San Diego, California. He was born December 30, 1920 in Roy, Utah, the son of Ruby C. Bybee and Fredrick James Meadows. He attended Davis High School and Long Beach Junior College.

He married Evelyn Holt on April 15, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. He raised his family in Sunset, Utah. He later moved to Ogden and recently to San Diego. He was a veteran of WWII and served as a pilot in the US Army Air Corps. He worked at Hill Air Force Base and owned several local businesses. He was a member of the LDS Church and the Lions Club. He served as a volunteer fireman and city councilman for Sunset. He was a rancher, horseman, carpenter, golfer, skier, artist, and the neighborhood handyman.

Jim is survived by one son and two daughters: Mark (Terri) Meadows, Draper; Lynn (David) Flinders, Spanish Fork; and Mary Ann (Mike) Havertz, San Diego. He is also survived by his sister, Jean (Geroge) Stettler, Roy, and his half-brother, Lee (Sharon) Jordan of Nampa, Idaho. He has eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn and son, J.F.

He was our hero, our dad, our granddad and great-granddad, “Jim Bo.” He loved to support his children’s and grandchildren’s activities.

Friends and family may call on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Roy, 5865 South 1900 West. Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Washington Heights Memorial Park in Ogden. 4500 Washington Blvd.
