Jay Harris Stoddard

HOOPER – Jay Harris Stoddard, 71, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born September 20, 1939 in Ogden, Utah, to Frank Leonard and Mary Agnes Rochell Stoddard.
Jay married Janet Penman March 1, 1962 in Hooper, Utah. They were later sealed in the Ogden Temple March 1, 1978.

Jay was a veteran serving in the Army during the Vietnam War.

He grew up in West Point and went to Davis County schools. Jay was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was home teacher, Sunday school teacher and food storage specialist.
Jay worked at American Fence Co, Western Zirconium Concise Welding and Pneudraulics Systems Mechanic at Hill Air Force Base. His hobbies were fishing, camping with family and fixing things that were deemed unfixable. You would always find him working on his cars and tractors.

Surviving are his wife Janet, daughters, Melanie (Ryan) Bluemel, Susan (Bruce) Anderson, 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren with one on the way. Also surviving are siblings, Neda Amidon, Bessie Thedell, Linda Orton, Kenneth Stoddard, Russell Stoddard and Dee Stoddard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Glen, Elvin and Fred Stoddard, one sister, Wanda Stoddard.

Special thanks to all those special people that helped us from Legacy Hospice and Dr. Vincent Hansen and his staff at the McKay Dee Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Pioneer Trail Ward, 5900 West 5000 South, Hooper. Family will visit with friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West and Thursday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services.

Interment, Hooper City Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded.
