Jerry was born on October 15, 1942, in Boise Idaho, to Jean Elsie Budge. Shortly thereafter, divorce brought his family to Logan, Utah, where they lived with his grandparents, Seth, and Mary Budge.
When Jerry was 7 years old his mother remarried Howard Hendrix, who adopted him and gave him his family name. They lived in Laramie, Wyoming, where Howard worked for the railroad. When he was 16 years old the family was transferred to Kansas City, Kansas. It was here that Jerry met the love of his life, Joyce Marie Smith, who attended the same ward at church.
At age 19, he chose to serve for two years as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was assigned to serve in Florida.
On June 12, 1964, he married Joyce in the Logan, Utah temple. As a young, newly married couple, they decided to set up their life together in the Denver, Colorado area, where they lived for 58 years and raised all six of their children.
They were separated for a time when Jerry was drafted by the Army and assigned to serve in Korea for two years starting in 1966.
Jerry was a very dedicated man, who loved the Lord and his family. He was also a talented and well-respected pipefitter in the Denver area.
His mother and father, Jean and Howard Hendrix, and his sister Connie Trowbridge have preceded him in death. He has one surviving sibling, Alan Hendrix (Sheri) of Ocean Park, WA.
