Jerry Wight Obituary

Jerry Reed Wight passed away peacefully on June 2, 2023, at the Brigham City Community Hospital in Brigham City surrounded by loving members of his family. He was born October 25, 1950, in Brigham City Utah, to Newell & Florence Young Wight.

He married Dorthea Shelton and later divorced. He had three children Andrea, Jamie, and Josh.  He later married Karen Bird and they recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary.

He graduated from Box Elder High School. He honorably served his country in the United States Army for 4 years. He graduated from U of U with a degree in accounting. He worked for the U before becoming a federal agent for 25 years working for the FBI and the IRS.

He planned many trips to Moab for family and friends to ride motorcycles. He could fix anything or teach you how to do it.

After retirement he moved to Wyoming and enjoyed spending time in the mountains.

He was a loyal and caring friend to many, a kindhearted and generous husband and father. He had a soft spot for cats and rescued and adopted many.

Jerry is survived by his wife, children, and siblings: Kristine Petersen (Rod – deceased), Evelyn Hurd (Skip), and 7 grandkids: Gage, Rourke, Lex, Cade, Savannah, Ryder, and Gabe.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother DeOrr Wight.  

The family suggests donations be made to any cat charity or rescue of your choice.

The family will honor Jerry by gathering for a private celebration of his life.
