Perry – Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Jesse Jerry Mason, passed away November 12, 2013, at home surrounded by his loved ones. Jesse was born August 12, 1936 in Ogden, Utah to John Clifford and Maren Janette Mitchell Mason. He graduated from Davis High School and received his Bachelor's Degree from Weber State. Jesse served in the Air Force for 7 years during the Korean Conflict.

Jesse married Sharon Taylor June 8, 1954 in Ogden; they were sealed in the Logan Temple on June 8, 1965. He treated Sharon like a queen; always showing her love and respect.

As a member of the LDS Church he served in the High Council, Bishopric, as the Finance clerk for 15 years and various other callings. He was also a very dedicated Home Teacher.

He worked at Swift and Company and retired from HAFB. Jesse loved woodworking, camping, fishing, hunting, fixing cars, gardening, going to the Temple, spending winter months in Quartzite, AZ with Sharon and above all spending quality time with his family.

Jesse received a heart transplant in June of 1992, which allowed him to spend another 21 ½ years with his family.

Jesse is survived by his wife of 59 ½ years, Sharon; son, Jerry (Diana) Mason of Perry; daughters, Vickie (Frank) Neilson of Layton, Cheryl (Chad) Scholer of Syracuse, Karen (Craig) Mitchell of Layton; 14 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. Also survived by his siblings, Lyle, Elden, Joyce, Beth, and Geraldine. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Burt and Darrel and sisters, Ilene, Elva and Shirley.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the Perry 2nd Ward Chapel, 2415 So. Park Drive. A viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday, November 15th at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. from 6 to 8 p.m. and prior to the service at the church from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful nurses at the dialysis center, Dr. Stephanie Olsen, Dr. Harry Senekjian and Advocate Hospice, with a special thanks to LaDawn Cox and Debra Forsythe for their loving care.

Jesse was a gentle giant, always putting his family first, serving others and providing unconditional love. He was a master patriarch in his children and grand- children's eyes. He leaves behind a legacy of love.
