Jill Christoffersen was born on February 25, 1951, to Phil and Phyllis Reeder Christoffersen in Brigham City, Utah. She died September 29, 2023, in South Ogden, of cancer. She was the oldest child and was always the responsible one. When she was a toddler, Dad was called on to serve in the Korean War, and thankfully reunited with the family. Jill lived in El Paso TX, Salt Lake City, Springfield, MO, and back to Brigham City, UT, before her dad rejoined the Army, and the moving continued. First Germany, then Walnut Creek, CA, then back to Brigham City while Dad served in Viet Nam. Then on to Omaha, NE, Panama Canal Zone, and Brigham City (while Dad was in Korea again). Jill graduated from Box Elder High School. She then attended BYU and graduated, becoming an English teacher in Blanding, UT, for two years. Then Jill chose to go on a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was called to serve in Rosario, Argentina, for 18 months. She has always been a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ, serving in many callings, including being an LDS Employment Specialist for many years, and also serving a member leader support senior mission in Pleasant Valley Stake, South Ogden, from Sept. 2017 to Sept. 2018. Jill added Spanish to her repertoire in teaching, so taught both English and Spanish in Heber City, UT for three years, before settling at T.H. Bell Jr. High in So. Ogden, where she taught until 2007. She has loved to travel, and has taken trips to Israel, Portugal, Guatemala, Peru, the British Isles, Washington D.C., and Spain, to name a few. Jill has been the best daughter, sister, aunt, and friend that anyone could ever dream of. She has taken all of her nieces and nephews to the Shakespearean Festival in Cedar City. She wanted them to have a good experience with Shakespeare by seeing a few productions. She has continued to attend the Festival every year since about 1991. In addition, she has blessed her family members with her scrapbooking, crocheting, and embroidery projects through the years. She was a member of ADK Sorority, serving as that teachers’ organization state president. She was also a member of Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and two book clubs. Jill is survived by her sisters, Janet Shurtz (Clark), and JoAnn Hall (Jerry); her sister-in-law, Karen Christoffersen, and her 12 nieces and nephews: Bart Christoffersen, KC Brothers (Josh), Jesse Christoffersen, Kristen Johnson (Casey), Randy Shurtz (Alyson), Royden Shurtz (Aubree), Mary Shurtz, Alan Shurtz (Courtney), Jed Hall (Brittany), Jake Hall (Lindy), Josh Hall (Makenna), and Jance Hall. She also has 23 great nieces and nephews. Jill was preceded in death by her father, mother, and brother Alan. She will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at the Pleasant Valley 4th Ward, 5640 So. 850 East. Friends may meet with the family on Wednesday, October 4th at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday prior to the service from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Brigham City Cemetery.
