John William Burnitt (“Tooty”), born October 16th, 1938 in Kinder, Louisiana to Edward Sylvester Burnitt and Agnes Marcantel Burnitt, passed away peacefully in his sleep June 17th, 2022 at age 83.

He grew up in DeQuincy, Louisiana and attended DeQuincy High School.

After high school he served his country in the United States Air Force as part of the National Guard, obtaining the rank of Senior Master Sergeant.

On February 11, 1982, he married the love of his life Julie, together they built their life in Clinton, Utah. Combined they had 4 children; Jonathan (Lisa), James (Candace), Joel (Lisa) and Lori.

John is remembered by his love of anything outdoors. Hunting, fishing, football, rodeo and gardening were some of his great passions. He also loved cooking and watching old western movies, especially anything with John Wayne. More than anything, he loved to tease everyone. He could tease someone to tears and tease them even more.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Julie; his brother Bobby; his sisters Ruth and Rose; his children Johnathan (Lisa), James (Candace), Joel (Lisa) and Lori; his grandchildren Richard (Katie), Gabby (Steton), Reiley, Haleigh and Sarah; his great - granddaughter Lacey; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and adopted grandchildren he has collected throughout his life.

He is preceded in death by both his parents; brothers Abner and Edward Jr.; and sisters Mildred and Deloris.

A huge thank you to Thatcher-Brook Rehabilitation Center for helping care for John in his last days.

He was loved by everyone that knew him and he loved everyone he knew.
