John Colvell Jr. Obituary

John Earl Colvell, Jr.

Roy - John passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at the age of 70 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones, who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

John was born on January 29, 1951 to J. Earl and Virginia Lee Colvell in Ogden, Utah.

John graduated from Ben Lomond High School and Weber State College. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the 145th and 156th Aviation Unit. John worked as an Aircraft Mechanic at Hill Field Air Force Base until he retired.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to John. He loved having a quiet morning with Dixie, drinking coffee on their back patio with their dogs, Peaches and Teddy, nearby. John had an uncanny ability to find happiness in his daily activities, which included working on cars, playing with his grandkids and watching them swim in his pool, cooking his tasty slovaki and crab legs, many trips to Sam’s Club, making sure his kitchen was well stocked, being able to find Ruby Red Squirt, one of his favorite sodas, and surfing the channels on the TV remote in his camouflage pants and t-shirt, with a must have front pocket. John thoroughly enjoyed his close friend, Chris Workman coming over to visit and working on different projects.

John had a special relationship with his only brother Jerry.  They enjoyed working together, spending time visiting and reminiscing about their childhood.

John met the love of his life, Dixie, and it was love at first sight. They had a collaborative and caring relationship. It was based on mutual support and a deep love for each other.

John was selfless, giving and caring. He devoted considerable time and effort in helping family and friends. He truly had a heart of gold.

John is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Dixie; her daughters, Dori (Chris) Workman, West Haven, Tara Holley (Lynn Mecham) Washington Terrace, who he loved and cherished as his own. Casey’s wife, Jenna Holley, 10 Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandchild and 1 on the way; Mother-In-Law, Ruth Halbert, Roy; Sisters, Linda K. (Dee) Lafollett, Sunset; Carol A. (Ron) Burnett, Bellview, Washington; Brother, Jerry A. (Debbie) Colvell, Hooper
