Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend Karen (McFarland) Archibald, age 67, passed away early Friday morning May 19th, 2023 at McKay Dee Hospital from end stage liver failure. Karen was born August 12, 1955 to Harold and Marva McFarland in West Weber, Utah.

Karen married Michael Hales in 1972 and had their son Ronald Hales and their daughter Natalie (Hales) Johnson; they later divorced. She later met Marshall Olson and they had one daughter Heidi (Olson) Taylor. She then married Blair Archibald in 1992 and had their daughters Yssa Archibald, Nicole (Archibald) Burton, and their son Tyler Archibald; they later divorced.

Karen worked at Hill Air Force Base for 38 years and she retired in December of 2019.

She loved planning and taking her family on many camping trips to state and national parks. She enjoyed sightseeing, wildflowers, photography, riding motorcycles, and was an avid rock collector. She especially loved to travel to see as many lighthouses as she could. Haceta Head in Oregon was her favorite. She also found joy in gardening, from fruits and vegetables to many beautiful flowers. She had a passion for music and enjoyed attending live shows.

She found her utmost purpose and greatest passion in being a grandmother to all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The special love she had for her grandbabies was infinite and everlasting. She will be greatly missed and eternally cherished in our hearts.

Karen is survived by her sisters: Janice (Jay) Larsen, Sandra (Jay) Palmer, and Debra Joy (Kevin) Glende; her children: Ronald Hales, Natalie Johnson (Paul), Heidi Taylor (Zachary), Yssa Archibald, Nicole Burton (Austin), and Tyler Archibald; her grandchildren: Truce Hales, Michael Hales, George Hoffman, Jasmine Johnson, Isabelle Johnson, Dexter Burton, Dalton Taylor, Reznor Rodgers, Atticus Taylor, Phineas Burton, Valerius Taylor, and Maya Archibald; and her great grandchildren: Vincent and Lucian Hales.
