Karma Spalding Obituary

Karma Rosenhan Spalding, 72, of Layton, Utah passed away peacefully on May 22, 2022 after a valiant battle with colon cancer.

Karma was born on December 8, 1949, in Murray, Utah to Cort Arno Rosenhan and Blanche Jeanetta Glover. She was the youngest of eight children.

Karma attended Union Elementary School, Midvale Jr. High, and Hillcrest High School. She attended a semester at BYU before moving to Las Vegas to work. There she met her sweetheart, Terry. They were sealed in the Provo Utah Temple on June 24, 1972.

While Terry was in the Air Force, they made many close friends living in Germany, Florida, and Utah.

Karma has always been a child at heart. Her favorite place was Disneyland, and she went as often as she could. Karma loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the neighborhood children. Every year she would plan easter egg hunts for them, and she loved to buy presents for their families at Christmastime. You could often find her sitting in a chair on her porch talking with the neighborhood kids. She loved them and they loved her.

Karma was a talented artist and has shared her paintings and crafts with many people. She was also a beautiful singer and would harmonize with her daughters and sing songs to her grandchildren. She wrote beautiful poetry about her life and for each of her children.

Karma could always see the good in everyone and she loved unconditionally. She would complement random strangers everywhere she went. If she caught someone being unkind, she would not hesitate to put them in their place.

She loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and had many spiritual experiences in her life.

Karma is preceded in death by her parents, Cort and Jeanetta Rosenhan; and her brothers; LaMar, Bill, Paul, Bruce, and Phillip.

Karma is survived by her husband, Terry; her children; Mark Spalding (Amy), Jean Cefalo (Dustin), and Emily Barnson (Cade); ten grandchildren; Jordan (Hallie), Abby, Hannah (Dylan), Devin, Sam, Mia, Brooke, Ty, Noah and Drue; two great-grandchildren; Violet and Juniper; and her sister, Susan; and brother, Max.

We will miss her loud, contagious laugh, her bright smile, and her hugs. We know she is celebrating in heaven with her parents, brothers, and her beloved dog, Max.
