Kathleen Wiley Obituary

Kathleen Ruth Wiley has passed on December 2, 2022. Her death was not unexpected, and she was not unprepared. She was a diligent student t of the scriptures and was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Her passion was in writing music and her greatest thrill was in seeing her work turn into masterpieces. In both the scriptures and her music, she sat at the feet of the masters. Her greatest regret is to not be able to continue in these pursuits.

She was the consummate individual and enjoyed being different. She definitely marched to the beat of her own drum.

Her creativity was evident in everything she did, from her teaching style to her manner of dress to her blue-purple lipstick…which she wore almost every day of her life, for over 40 years, but which disappointingly, died about 8 years before she did... although she saved just a tad for her last trip.

With all her creativity and individuality, she lived the gospel standards strictly and obediently, living in her pink cloud of peace almost all the days of her life…since the day of her baptism, May 7th, 1974…except one week in 1992 or so when she went against the counsel of her bishop.

That week she was in hell.

Other than that, her days were lived in a pink cloud of total peace. (I know...I know…It should have been purple, but what can I say?? It was PINK!!) She lived in this pink cloud of total peace until the minute she stepped through the veil.

And though she has gone on, she would like to say to all and sundry, “Sayonara…See you in the morning!!”

A Celebration of life will be held Thursday, December 8, 2022, at 6 PM, at the Ogden 4th Ward chapel, 2115 Jefferson Ave. with a social gathering following.  Service will be video recorded and added to her obituary after the day of service.

Original version

THE PURPLE LADY DEPARTS!!

The fashion world reels today as news reached New York, London, Paris, and Rome of the departure of one of the industry’s foremost glitterati, at her fashionable Ogden, Utah estate. Word arrived in the early forenoon of the sudden, but not unexpected departure of Kathleen Wiley to celestial realms on heigh. She was escorted on her journey to her celestial home by numerous family and friends and much gaiety and excitement was had by all as relationships and friendships were renewed.

For her departure the chic and ever-elegant Miss Wiley has chosen as part of her going-away ensemble, purple fuzzy socks from Walgreen Pharmacy and a lovely purple bathrobe of intricate design.

Miss Wiley, known as THE DRESSER amongst her friends and associates, often caused a stir even amongst strangers for the uniqueness of style and the completeness of her ensembles; the coordination of all her accessories…earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings, shoes, pocketbooks, and where possible, glasses…and OF COURSE the ever-present blue-purple lipstick…all adorning and/or complementing various muumuus of garish design.

In life, she maintained expectations.

In death, she did not disappoint.

For her final journey, and to complete her ensemble, Miss Wiley sported 4 layers of thermals, in the event of unexpected updrafts or turbulence in flight. In her inimitable style…and with thanks to all, at this very sacred time of parting, Miss Wiley would say to all THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES. You ALL have touched my life in meaningful ways, and I will take those memories with me, into eternity, and sundry…sayonara…auf wiedersehn, au revoir, tootleoo… but NOT goodbye…only SAYONARA… as we WILL meet again!!

Love to each of you and thanks for everything.

In addition, Kathy’s testimony

I know God lives

I know Jesus is the Christ

I know Joseph Smith was a prophet and that he was the instrument whereby the Lord restored the true church to the earth.

I know that Russell M. Nelson is God’s prophet on the earth today and if we follow him, we will be prepared for the future…as he SEESIT…He is a SEER. He is like Isaiah who can see the future and help us prepare.

I know that the temples of the Church that are on the earth today are sacred edifices where living do saving ordinances for the dead. Temples are places of peace, serenity and revelation.
