Kent Burton Jensen, 83, passed away January 26, 2023, at Ogden Regional Hospital. He was born March 13, 1939 in Brigham City, Utah to Theron Elias and Clara Burton Jensen, the 3rd oldest of 5 children.
A lifelong resident of Brigham City, Kent is remembered for his service in the Church, his gentle heart, and for many Box Elder County residents, as the Pepsi man. On a given workday he might have been found pulling one of his grandchildren on a pallet of soda pop, or pausing to converse with a friend at the local grocery store. On Sundays, he could be found walking to church, and shaking just about every hand in his ward.
Throughout his life, Kent loved baseball. He played for a number of leagues in Brigham City growing up, and eventually played for the Box Elder Bees, even scoring the final winning run in the rival State Championship game.
After graduating from Box Elder High, he briefly attended Utah State University before serving in the Western States Mission from August 17, 1959 to August 23, 1961. The mission spanned many states in those days, so Kent served from El Paso, Texas to Denver, Colorado. In the mission field, a serendipitous injury left Kent serving in the mission home where he met Sister Jean Brower. When they returned from their missions Kent courted Jean and they were married on March 8, 1962 in the Salt Lake Temple for Time and all Eternity.
Kent is survived by his loving wife Jean of 60 years, their eight children: David (Elizabeth), Provo; Mark (Remo), Salt Lake; Pamela, Seattle, WA; Melanie Harmon (John), Orem; Christopher (Peyton), Provo; Michael (Leslie), Riverton; Robert, Santa Monica, CA, Valerie (Pablo), Skagway, AK. Siblings: Nancy King, South Ogden; Janice Summers (Ken) Plain City; Chieko Jensen (sister-in-law), Murrita, CA, Don Gibbons (brother-in-law), Bear River City; and 27 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings: Theron, Richard (Gill), and Sally.
The Funeral Services will be held on Saturday February 4, 2023, at 11:00 am. in the Brigham City 7th Ward chapel, 531 North 100 West, Brigham City, Utah.
A viewing will be held at Myers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East, Brigham City, Utah on Friday, February 3rd, from 6:00-8:00 pm. and prior to the service on Saturday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Brigham City 7th Ward.
Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
