Kris Johnson Edgar left this mortal life on February 27, 2021, surrounded by her family at her home in Cottonwood Heights, Utah. She was born June 2, 1949 in Fillmore, Utah to Blair M. and Charlotte Bridges Johnson. Kris Johnson devoted her life to being the best mother, grandmother and great-grandmother ever! Her name meaning is exactly who she is: Kris means “follower of Christ” and Johnson in Hebrew means “Yahweh has favored”. Kris embodied faith, hope and charity in all she did. Those who knew her described her as a woman of great love, strength and character. She was an inspiring woman, beautiful and always humble. Though she faced much adversity, she never wavered or broke faith, being a beacon of light to those around her. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she devoted her life to studying the gospel and living by its principles. She especially loved attending the temple on countless occasions and was elated to take her son and daughters to the temple. Her calling as a Ward Missionary brought her great joy. She loved spending time with her family, as well as going on adventures to places like Disneyland, a Harmer/Edgar family vacation tradition!
In the early 1970’s, she married Danny M. Edgar and started a family in Winnemucca, Nevada, where they opened Blue Wind turquoise jewelry store. They had four children, and later divorced. Kris was part owner of the Johnson’s family businesses: Johnson’s Foodtown, BJ’s Market and Johnson’s Marketplace. In 1990 she moved her family to Cottonwood Heights where they still reside. Kris’s family has been blessed beyond measure to have her in their lives. The great example she has set for them as a Christ-like woman will be felt for generations to come. Until the very end of her battle with cancer, she endured pain, trials and adversity with poise and love, always putting her family first. Bless you, Kris, for being such a selfless and loving matriarch; you will be missed until we are back together! We know that you are with our family in Heaven now, but we will be reunited again someday.
Kris was preceded in death by her baby brother, Courtney; mother, Charlotte; father, Blair Johnson; and son, Daniel Edgar. She is survived by her brother, Kole; daughters, Dixie, Darcie and Desiree; niece, Macy; grandchildren, Armando, Shallico, J-Bay, Presious and Daniel; and her great granddaughter, Aaliyah Chavez.
