Lee Taylor Child

Lee Taylor Child passed away October 21, 2021 after a long struggle with health issues. He left this earth the same day he arrived. 

Lee was born October 21, 1953 to Donald and Donna Child. He attended Weber County Public Schools. He played football for Bonneville High School where he played left offensive lineman. 

Lee served a mission to Calgary, Canada. He was married to Lorna Slater June 20, 1975 in the Ogden Temple. 

Lee loved to work. He was employed as a Captain at the Weber Fire District. He retired after 30 years. After retirement he went to work at the Salt Lake City airport as a shuttle bus driver and landside officer. He owned and operated Keep it Green Sprinkler and Landscaping. There wasn't a time when he didn't have a side hustle. He was a truck driver, roofer, parks director in Plain City, bus driver for LeBus and Weber School District, and special luggage delivery person for his daughter Ashlee. 

He loved to mow his lawn on his riding lawn mower and go for rides in his truck Ruby. He and Lorna spent many hours rocking in their chairs and discussing their day. 

You always knew where you stood with Lee as he always expressed his opinion loudly and whether you wanted to hear it or not. 

Most of all Lee loved his family and grandchildren, even though they called him grumpy grandpa. He was always there for family. He had many lifelong Friends. 

He was a lifelong resident of Roy City. 

Lee is survived by his wife Lorna. He is also survived by his five children: Brandon Lee (Chyann) Child, Lance Slater (Tomeka) Child, Blake Tyson (Jamie) Child, Ashlee Anne Child (Shaun Davis), Katie Dawn, and (Jared) Brown. 9 grandchildren, Lexi, Shelbi, Emett, Grayson, Karsen, Emery, Hallee, Kambree and Brinlee. A sister Ranae (Doug) Porter and a brother-in-law- Kenneth Felt 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Steve and sister Connie. 

He loved playing catch with his dogs, Walker and Simon.

A viewing will be held Monday, October 25, 2021, 6:00-8:00 PM at Myers Mortuary 5865 S 1900 W Roy, Utah.  Graveside services will held on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Roy City Cemetery, 2:00 PM. 

Services will be live streamed at the bottom of his obituary.
