Lily Caudill Obituary

Lily Lanius Caudill, 92, passed away January 25, 2023, surrounded by family.  She was born on December 3, 1930, in Brigham City Utah to Alfred Benton Lanius and Lily Rosella Francis. She was the youngest of six children: Bernice Francis, Lemuel Thomas, Alfred Benton Jr. Erven Francis and Rozella (Rose).  Lily was the last surviving sibling.  She was raised by her grandparents Lemual Francis Dreston and Matilda Madelene Pehrson in Brigham City Utah.  She attended Box Elder High School.  She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

She married Lafe Richard Caudill on April 10,1954, in Elko Nevada. They settled in Roy Utah and raised their children.  They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan Utah Temple on April 23, 1971.  Lily is survived by her three children Karen Jean (Ray) Warren of Longmont Colorado, Shawna Kay (Delos) Wiberg of Roy Utah and Steven Richard (Sharon) Caudill of San Jose California, ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. She will be missed by all.

While Lily was raising her children, she was involved in everything they were doing.  She was active in Primary, Young Women’s, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and many school activities including room mother and PTA. She worked for several years as a CNA at Heritage Park Care Center and for Hospice in Roy Utah.  She also worked for several years at Cutter Labs.

After retirement Lily and Lafe (Joe) became snowbirds and loved to travel wherever they could take their fifth wheel trailer.  While traveling she enjoyed hiking, making necklaces out of beads, ceramics (which she gave to everyone), reading, walking, visiting with fellow campers and going to the temple.

When they could no longer travel, they settled in Pahrump Nevada. Lafe passed away in 2008, and, as she often stated, “leaving her in the desert”.  She had many friends in Pahrump, they went out to eat, exercised together, walked together, did line dancing, karaoke, went to church, and attended the Las Vegas Temple as often as possible.

In 2020 during the middle of the Covid pandemic Lily returned to Utah to reside at Chancellor Garden Assisted Living in Clearfield where she was known as “The Walker” because she walked every day.

Lily's family extends their thanks to all the staff at Chancellor Gardens.

Lily had requested no services and will be cremated.  She will be interred at the Roy City Cemetery in the summer because she hated the cold.
