Lois Carnal Obituary

On October 10, 2020, Lois Priscella Carnal slipped away peacefully, and returned to her Heavenly Father’s loving arms. She was 91 years old.

Lois was the third child born to Lodovico “Louie” and Giovannella “Jennie” in Sacramento, California.  She lived in the same house, most of her young life, where she lived close to relatives, and made many life-long friends, who were like family to her. Lois was a 1944 graduate from Sacramento High School.

In 1957, Lois married Gerald “Jerry” Reese and together they had two daughters, Susan and Nancy. They later divorced.

Lois was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She had a strong testimony of the Gospel and was a woman of faith and loyalty. She served in her church as a stake missionary, as well as a young women’s leader, along with many other callings. Lois had a very giving nature, and was always willing to help anyone in need, even those she hardly knew.

During her life, Lois worked as a medical transcriber supervisor in a hospital. Later, she ran a daycare/preschool for 30 years. She loved the children very much, and stayed in contact with many of them.  Lois was a hard-worker, who took good care of her family and loved ones.  She had an unwavering love for her family, and loved nothing more than showering them with service and gifts.

She had many talents and hobbies that she enjoyed.  Lois loved the theatre and painting.  She was an amazing cook and loved to entertain guests and organize events, which was one of her many talents.  Many of those organized events were with the Delta Sigma Sorority, which she had joined when she was young, and remained an active life-long member.

In 2002, Lois met her love, Clifford Carnal, and they soon married in Rocklin, California. Two years later, they were sealed together in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Oakland Temple.

Lois is survived by her daughters, Susan Mitchell, and Nancy (Chris) Clark; her nephew William “Bill” Reynolds; her stepchildren, Kathryn (Paul) Harris, Michael (Karen) Herscowitz, Craig (Patricia) Herscowitz; her grandchildren Spencer (Raelyn) Mitchell, Emily (Steve) Davidson, Carissa (Kevin) Jackson, Corinne (Justin) Florence, Miranda (Austin) Seabolt, and Allison Clark; as well as, her 10 great grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Grandma Lolo” and “Grandma Great”.  She will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends!

Preceding Lois in death were her husband, Clifford Carnal; her parents, Louie and Jennie; brother, Louis “Nick” (Ruby); sister, Frances (William) Reynolds and her niece, Kimberley Carlson.

A special thanks to the wonderful Dr. Charles Richardson M.D. and his medical assistants, the amazing staff and CNA’s at The Lodge at North Ogden and the caring nurses, and CNA (Jodie) from Encompass Health. We love you, and we are so grateful for the love and care that you gave to Lois, and for making her feel like a part of your family. With much love and appreciation.
