Lois Hereford Obituary

Lois’ 84 years were so full of love for family and friends! Always up for an adventure and possessing a distinctive zest for life, she was the kind of person who made the lives of the people around her better. She was loving, kind, and supportive of all, especially her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends.

Lois loved to travel to all places, and when that wasn’t possible any longer, she would go to fun destinations by reading books. The Tetons were her favorite view. She also loved walking along any beach, then would later be content to just watch the crashing ocean waves moving in and out. She treasured her vacation trips, being a snowbird with old friends and getting to know new ones. She was an avid collector of anything Snoopy, as anyone who knew her could attest. She also enjoyed crocheting, camping, puzzles, crafting, painting pictures, and nurturing plants.

Thank you to the Willard residents who became family when she had the time and wanted to volunteer to give back in some way. She found another family with the Willard CERT members and was lovingly adopted.

Lois lived at Maple Springs Assisted Living for the past two years. She had an admirable positive attitude, and was quick to share it. She met some wonderful friends at Maple Springs and absolutely loved the staff. She had fun with her neighbor across the hall, and during holidays, would move around the decorations outside their apartment, a game that became fun for both of them. She particularly enjoyed poker games and would tell people not to visit on Thursdays so she could play. She also had fun listening to music and dancing when musicians came to perform. She loved sharing her new puzzles with her friends. She also tried to learn everyone’s name so that, if she needed something, she wouldn’t have to say, “Hey you…” That was the type of person she was -- she had a way of making everyone feel like they were her friend.

Her family would like to thank everyone who has been a part of “Team Lois” the last few years of her life. She graduated from hospice multiple times but this time she earned her wings. Thank you to all the caring medical professionals who shared themselves with her and made her feel special and loved -- especially the nurse who would come in and show Lois what earrings she was wearing that day. And the soon-to-be nurse who would come to her door, and let her know that his shift was over but that he would see her next time he worked. There were many others who checked in on her and whose care helped make the last two years of her life happy. You all are amazing at what you do, and it makes a big difference in your patients’ lives!

Surviving her: daughter Pam (Jeff) Schneider; son Duane (Barb) Hereford; grandchildren Brady Hereford, Haley Hereford, Aaron (Jessica) Schneider, Alyssa (Bubba) Brown, and Amy Schneider; great granddaughter Raylynn Hereford; great-grandsons Rory Schneider, Rhett Schneider, Reese Schneider, and Lennon Brown; sisters Barbara Whitaker, Nancy Shevey, and Patti (Bob) Winklesky; brother-in-law Joe Hereford and many special nieces, nephews, and stepfamily members.

Deceased: parents Tom and Wanda Misrasi; husband Dean Hereford; sisters Betty Goodman and Marilyn Perry; brothers-in-law Bert Goodman, Merrill Perry and Dennis Whitaker; sister-in-law Neen Hereford.

A special thank you to Dr. Oates and the nurses of the Brigham City Community Hospital staff for their special care.
