Lt. Col Edward Kingsford Obituary

"Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend Ed Kingsford returned to his father in heaven on April 16th 2024. Ed graduated from the University of Idaho with his Juris Doctorate in May of 1974. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity for 55 years, and some of his favorite stories to tell was about his brothers.

After graduating with his Law degree Ed started his career with the United State Airforce as a captain in the Air Force’s Judge Advocate’s office and transferred to The Air Force Base in Louisiana. He met his eternal sweetheart and her two sons, Rick and Daron in 1978, when he was stationed at Hill Air Force Base. Ed and Betty then got married July 31st of 1980 in the Ogden temple; they were then swiftly stationed at Wright Patterson in Ohio. There they had their daughter Rachelle. Once, again quickly transferred to Reese Air Force Base in Texas. He and his family were transferred three more times, before he retired. In most of the states they lived in, Ed would also teach college law courses.

They went to Elmendorf, Alaska, then back to Hill AFB in Utah, and rounded out his 20 year service at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii.

In his honor, our countries flag was flown over the USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7th 1994, and presented to him.

After retirement Ed and his family moved to Riverton, Utah. He then worked for the department of corrections for the state of Utah for 16 years before he and his sweetheart Betty both retired to Syracuse, Utah, where he lived out the rest of his life.

He was so immensely adored by his neighbors, where for years he insisted on bringing a mile radius of neighbor’s garbage cans back up to their houses, and handed out candy to everyone in his ward every Sunday.

He loved to serve his community, and be social. He was the world to his daughter, and an example to live up to. Everyone that met him loved his stories, and how long they took to tell because he would be laughing too hard to tell them. He will be missed, and the sun will never be quite as bright, but his parents, brother and son Daron have been waiting for him in heaven. It’s hard to say goodbye but we know we will always have our angel watching over us."
