Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend Lynda Money passed away surrounded by family on September 28, 2018. She was born on August 24, 1942 to John Lynn and Anna Mae Schaerrer Houser in Payson, Utah. Lynda married Michael Calvin Woodward on September 10, 1964. He passed away on May 9, 1966, leaving her with one daughter, Rebecca Ann Woodward (Eldridge), born two months later. After completing a master’s degree and teaching in the Business Communications Department at BYU, she met and married Richard L Money on August 4, 1972. Richard brought three children into the marriage, Steven A Money, Brenda Money (Cheney) and Michael L Money. They had two more children together to complete the family, Brent H Money and Kathryn Money. Lynda and Richard were married for 44 wonderful years.
Lynda attended school in Springville, Utah and had many dear and close friends that she kept throughout her life. In high school, she was elected Springville Art Queen. She attended BYU and received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Business Education. After marrying Richard, Lynda moved to North Ogden and became a dedicated and wonderful mother. After 11 years, she resumed her teaching career at Weber State College where she taught from 1982 to 1999.
She was a lifelong, faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and devoted her life to serving others in whatever capacity she was called, including Young Women’s President and Stake Relief Society President. She served with Richard as a senior missionary in the New York, New York South mission and loved to share her experiences serving there during 9/11. She also served a senior mission with Richard at the Ogden Employment Center.
Lynda enjoyed camping and family trips, making handmade gifts and meals to take to friends and neighbors, and family history. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was also a loyal Weber State fan, and served as an officer of the WSU Emeritus Alumni Association. She loved visiting with friends and family, but most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and supporting their activities.
Lynda is survived by her six children, Steven A (Ladena) Money, Rebecca Ann Woodward (David) Eldridge, Brenda Money (Darin) Cheney, Michael L Money, Brent H (Marti) Money, and Kathryn Money; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; her brother, David Lynn Houser and her sister, Patricia Ann Houser Newbury.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husbands Michael Calvin Woodward, and Richard L Money.
Special thanks to the wonderful people who helped our family care for mom, including the staff and administration at Barrington Place in Clinton, the CNAs and nurses at Quail Meadows Assisted Living in North Ogden, Alyx and Debbie with ComfortWorx Hospice, and Kristy Rowell, our mother’s dear friend and caregiver.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018 at the Ben Lomond 11th Ward, 3610 N. 650 E., North Ogden. Viewings will be held on Thursday, October 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., and prior to funeral services on Friday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the church building.
