Maralee Leland Obituary

Maralee Leland, 87, of Ogden, UT, passed away on April 11, 2024. She was born on February 2, 1937, in Seattle, WA.

Maralee, known for her optimistic and happy-go-lucky nature, was a caring individual whose deep well of strength and positive outlook forged a remarkable and inspirational life. Her greatest loves in life were spending time with her three sons, their families and golfing - Nothing topped the occasion when those loves came together in a round of golf with her boys.

She was a loving mother (Mark, Todd, and Reid Leland), grandmother (Hunter, Tanner, Payne, Starnes, Courtney, Meredith, Sierra, Nora, Paige, Grant, Spencer), great grandmother (Madison, Luca, Noah, Logan, John), and mother-in-law (Simone, Rebecca, Suzie).

She not only cherished every moment with her family, she was also a great friend to many. Her patience, empathy, adventuresome spirit, strength, and loving kindness was a wonderful example and her life will continue to be an inspiration to all who knew her.

She earned a bachelors degree in speech and hearing therapy from the University of Washington before pursuing a master’s degree in the same field from the University of Southern California. She would eventually complete her Master’s degree in Child and Family therapy from Antioch University in the late 1990s. She pursued a career as a realtor for John L Scott for about 10 years in the late 1980s and early 1990s before pursuing her passion as a Child and Family Counselor for Ryther Child Center through the late 1990s and 2000s.

Maralee is survived by her sons: David Mark Leland, Todd Dale Leland, Reid Hall Leland, and her sister Annabelle Douglass. She was preceded in death by her father Milton G Brown, mother Annabelle Brown, and husband (divorced) David Dale Leland.

A private service for friends and family will be held in Seattle, Washington, to honor and celebrate the life of Maralee Leland.
