Margaret Morgan Chambers, more affectionately known as Peggy to those she loved, passed away July 28, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. She was born October 22, 1946 to Lieutenant Colonel Wilmer Morgan and Diora Estelle Parsons Morgan. Peggy’s father was in the Army, so much of her childhood was spent moving around the country to his various posts. She would often share stories of traveling and settling into new places, and the many people she met along the way.

Peggy married Charles “Chuck” Chambers June 25, 1971. They enjoyed 42 years of marriage before he passed away in 2013. Their first home was in Pueblo, Colorado, but Chuck’s work brought them to Utah where they settled in Layton. One of their favorite past times was traveling in their camper, especially to the Oregon Coast. Peggy loved reminiscing about those trips.

Peggy was a second grade school teacher at South Weber Elementary for many years and loved her work. She adored her students, and was often found going above and beyond to enrich their learning. Peggy considered each of her students her own, and they brought years of happiness to her life. She retired in 2013, but often ran into past students who continued to bring her joy by greeting her, and thanking her for her influence in their lives.

After retirement Peggy was able to fulfill her dreams of traveling to foreign places. She visited Europe, and while there was able to revisit memories from her childhood in Germany. She later traveled to Greece and enjoyed the many things she saw and experienced. She looked forward to her weekly dinner date with her close friends, ‘the ladies’, and time spent with her family. Her life would never be complete without her dogs, and she loved each one with her whole heart.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilmer and Diora Morgan; her husband, Charles Chambers; her cousin, Joe Thomas Jenkinson Jr.; and many beloved dogs. She is survived by her fur babies, Danny and Dalia. Her cousins, Edna Elizabeth (Jenkinson) Rushton, Charles Benjamin “Ben” Jenkinson, Evelyn Carolyn (Jenkinson) Bigger, Elliot “Sandy” Vincent Blaize Jr., Carol Jane (Blaize) Myers, Eddie Parsons Dimaio, Thomas Aaron Parsons, Jerald “Jerry” Christopher Parsons, Teri Margaret Parsons, and David Brian Parsons; her nieces, Patricia Ann Chambers Johnson, and Tamara Suzanne Chambers; her nephew, Timothy Ring Chambers; as well as numerous great nieces and nephews, and 12 great-great nieces and nephews who all adored her and will miss her in their lives.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Myers Mortuary 250 North Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah. The memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 10:00 AM also at Myers Mortuary in Layton.

The family would like to thank the staff of Davis Hospital’s ICU department for their compassionate and respectful care of Peggy. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Humane Society of Utah, or your local animal shelter.
