Our mother, Marilyn Russell Morris, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on December 3,2017. She was born April 27, 1930 in Ogden, Utah to Thomas and Arvilla Allen Russell. She was raised in Ogden and attended Ogden City schools, graduating from Ogden High School. She went on to attend classes at Weber College and became a talented stenographer. She worked for the U.S. Forest Service,

She married her sweetheart, Sterling Ray Morris, in the Logan Temple July 28, 1950. Two months later Sterling was drafted and served a 2-year tour of duty in Korea. When he returned they began building their family. They were blessed with 2 children - Machel (Douglas) Knowles and Thomas (Margaret) Morris. As her 9 grandchildren arrived, Marilyn enjoyed spending time with them and making many happy memories. Her grandchildren are Jenny Knowles Terry, Michael Knowles, Spencer Knowles, Jessica Knowles Andrus, Ryan Knowles, Alyssa Knowles, Steven Morris, Scott Morris, and Kyle Morris. Sterling and Marilyn also have 25 great grandchildren.

Marilyn was a wonderful cook and homemaker. No one ever left her home hungry! She was active in the LDS church, serving in many callings including Stake Primary President and in the scouting program. She made countless pans of "funeral potatoes” for the many funeral luncheons in her ageing neighborhood.

She was the caregiver for her mother and for her husband after his stroke in 1992; and spent many happy hours caring for her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Lewis, and her husband Sterling, who passed away in May of this year. We miss Mom and Dad terribly, but are delighted they can now be together forever.

We wish to extend special thanks to Legacy Hospice staff, especially Crystal, Sydney, and Heather, as well as Alicia, her neighbor and night time companion.

We also extend a special thanks to Jolene Dixon who did mom's hair every week for 40 years. We are grateful for Marilyn’s Christ like bishop, Stephen Taylor, who was a fount of comfort and love to her, and to us, during his almost daily visits.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Marilyn's life on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 6-8 PM at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 9th at 11:00 AM at the So. Ogden 4th Ward LDS Chapel, 4075 Orchard Avenue, with a viewing prior from 9:45 to 10:45 AM.

Interment will be at the Ogden City Cemetery.
