Obituary

Melba Jo Gooch Shuman

ROY – Melba Jo Gooch Shuman passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 25, 2009. She was born October 27, 1939 in Mackay, Idaho to Porter Melvon and Melba Gooch. She grew up in Harrisville, UT and graduated from Weber High School.

Jo married E. Warren Shuman, in the Salt Lake Temple on January 17, 1958. Warren adored Jo and has been a devoted and loving husband for over 51 years.

She retired as the Lunchroom Unit Manager from Wahlquist Junior High School. Jo had a legendary reputation for serving delicious meals. She was an excellent cook and loved to cook for her family and friends. She also enjoyed reading, crocheting and spending time with her family and the many trips they’ve taken together.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many church callings.

Surviving are her husband, Warren; her four children, Sandy Florence, Taylorsville, UT, Roger (Lynnette) Shuman, Harrisville, UT, Scott (Colleen) Shuman, Lakeland, FL, Brent (Lorie) Shuman, Farr West, UT; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister Geri (Grant) Andersen; 3 brothers, Melvon (Shirley) Gooch, Gaylon Gooch and Bill (Dianna) Gooch.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one sister and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the Harrisville 2nd Ward Chapel, 435 W. Harrisville Rd., Harrisville, UT. Friends may call on Wednesday, May 27th at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Richmond City Cemetery.
