Obituary

Morris George “Rex” Ricks, 81 passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018.
Rex was born on June 13, 1937 in Cowley, Wyoming a son of Dee George and Morris Ricks.
He served his country faithfully during the Vietnam War in the Air Force. He was honored with receiving the Bronze Star for participating in a helicopter rescue mission. Morris was an airplane crew chief; he took pride in his plane and always referred to it as “his bird”.
Rex married Lois “BJ” Jean Gassett on March 12, 1994. He spent the happiest years of his life with her.
Rex enjoyed being in the outdoors and mountains. He was a wonderful father and enjoyed coaching his son in Pee Wee football. He had a love for horses and pack trips. He shared his passion for horses with his children and they enjoyed many riding adventures together.
Most people don’t get to live their dream life, but Rex lived life to the fullest. He traveled the world in his Air Force days and later fulfilled his dream of living in the mountains with his sweetheart. His fun-loving adventurous spirit will be dearly missed.
Survived by his children: Chad (Sheri) Ricks; Shaunna (Shawn) King; Tonya (Ron) Schauer; Nick (Jennifer) Ricks; and 11 grandchildren. Also siblings: Ilene (Marv); Bob (Karen); Barbara; Roma; and Cheryl (Steve).
Preceded in death by his parents and his wife BJ.
Thank you to Integrity Hospice for their loving care. A very special thanks to Kaylee and Tonya for their compassion, love, and nurturing towards Rex and our family. We will be forever grateful.
A gathering of loved ones will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, UT.
