Roy – Orvil R. Minchey, 85, died Sunday, May 18, 2003, at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden.

He was born June 13, 1917 in Cleveland, Utah, the son of Franklin Richard Minchey and Mary Caroline Jacobsen. He married Maxine Snow Jensen on August 24, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple.

As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Orvil served valiantly in many ways throughout his life, including a mission with his wonderful wife to the Native American people in San Carlos, AZ.

Orvil was the consummate teacher, mentor, and educator to hundreds of children/students for over 35 years. He honorably served his country in World War II, served as the mayor and Justice of the Peace in Kamas, Utah, and as crossing guard in Roy. Orvil also retired after 40 years as a part time employee of the US Forest Service. His talents are legion, and his unconditional love and efficacious personality lifted everyone he met. His life epitomizes the light and spirit of true Christianity. His influence for good will be especially felt in his posterity, who will honor his good name forever.

He is survived by his loving wife, Maxine, and children: Todd (Audrey) Minchey, Cedar City; Marlene (Bob) Hasenyager, Farmington; Lowell (Diane) Minchey, Roy; 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Interment will be at 4:30 p.m. in the Emery Cemetery, Emery, Utah where military honors will be accorded.
