Phyllis R. Littlefield Born January 26, 1929, Died September 6, 2023
Phyllis was born in Los Angeles, CA to Marie Elizabeth Romar Scheby and James G. Romar. She loved living in Southern California and wished for the coast and warm weather ever since she moved away. During the early stages of World War II, her mother packed up Phyllis and her brother Jim and moved inland to Logan, UT. Uncle Jim loved Logan, mom, not so much.
After high school, she attended Utah State University for a time before moving to Salt Lake City. She worked as an elevator operator in Auerbach’s department store then worked a summer in Yellowstone National Park. She worked for United Airlines for some time also.
She married James C. Littlefield Jr. at Ft. Benning, GA in May of 1954 and was with him until her death. They were married just short of 70 years; till death do us part! They had two sons, Mark S. Littlefield (Debbie) and Scott M. Littlefield (Tonya). James and Phyllis have three grandchildren, James R. Littlefield (Courtney), Edgewood WA, Michael C. Littlefield (Kylee) North Ogden, UT and Alicia M. Littlefield (Grayson) North Ogden, UT. She didn’t quite make it to see her first Great Grandchild, Charlee Joy Littlefield, ETA November 2023.
Throughout her life, she was an artist and a student of art. She drew and painted many pieces that now adorn the walls of her home and her children’s homes. She was a volunteer docent at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts. She would read more books in a week than most people do in a year. She loved taking long walks, around Holladay, Utah, with her friends in the neighborhood.
She is survived by her husband, children, and grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents and brother.
Graveside service will be Monday, September 11, 2023, 1:30 p.m., Ogden City Cemetery, 1875 Monroe Blvd., Ogden, Utah. Viewing for family and friends will be Monday 12noon – 1:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah.
